Law - PCT Invitation To Submit Sequence Listing

If an international application discloses a nucleotide and/or amino acid sequence, the description must contain a listing of the sequence in formats that comply with PCT rules. The formats are specified in WIPO Standard ST.23. Some receiving offices require that a machine-readable form of the sequence listing be submitted. One consequence of not submitting a machine-readable sequence listing is that the search or examination of the application may be performed to a limited extent (even though the full fee for the search and/or examination is paid). If the International Searching Authority or International Preliminary Examining Authority invites the applicant to submit the sequence listing in a required format, it must be submitted within 1 month of the date of mailing of the invitation or within the time limit fixed in the invitation, whichever is longer.
