Why - Jurisdiction in U.S.

Inventorship is important in the U.S. because a valid U.S. patent application can only be filed by (or in the name of) the true inventor(s). In all other countries (except the Philippines), the inventorship issue is not critical because patents are granted in those jurisdictions to the "first to file" rather than the "first to invent."
